How do the column speakers attach to the subwoofer?

Three column pieces stack on top of the sub without tools. Start with the piece that has a rectangular tube on the bottom: line it up with the port on top of the sub and press down until the magnets click. Then push the two round-tube pieces into place one at a time, giving each a slight turn so it seats fully.

Can I plug a microphone and a guitar into it?

Yes. The built-in mixer has XLR/¼" combo inputs. Set the MIC/GUITAR/LINE button to MIC/GUITAR for a mic or guitar, or leave it on LINE for a keyboard or an external mixer. Stand behind the system while you set mic levels so you don't get feedback.
