Your Privacy Rights

Thank you for visiting our website. We respect your right to privacy and your need to control your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices and rights you have.

This Privacy Policy applies to personal information collected through our website at www.rockvilleaudio.com, our online store, our smartphone apps for Rockville lighting products, our text message and email programs, and our customer service channels (together, our "Services"). In this policy, "Rockville," "we," "us," and "our" mean Rockville Audio and its affiliates.

Information We Collect

Information you provide to us. We collect information you give us when you make a purchase, create an account, register a product, sign up for emails or text messages, enter a contest or promotion, respond to a survey, post reviews or comments, or contact customer service. This may include your name, email address, phone number, billing and shipping address, order details, and the content of your messages.

Payment information. Payments on our website are processed by Shopify Payments and other payment providers we offer at checkout. We do not store your full payment card number on our systems.

Information collected automatically. When you visit our website or open our emails, we and our partners automatically collect information such as your IP address, browser and device type, operating system, unique device and cookie identifiers, pages viewed, products viewed or added to your cart, links clicked, referring website, and the date and time of your visit. We also use session recording and heatmap tools (such as Microsoft Clarity) that capture how you interact with our website, including mouse movements, clicks, scrolling, and pages visited. See "Cookies, Pixels, and Similar Technologies" below.

Information from our lighting apps. If you use a Rockville smartphone app to control a lighting product, the app may collect device information (such as phone model and operating system version), information about the Rockville products you connect, your app settings and lighting configurations, and crash or error data. The app may ask for Bluetooth or Wi-Fi access, and on some phones the operating system requires location permission to scan for nearby Bluetooth devices. We use these permissions only to find and control your lighting products.

Information from other sources. We may receive information about you from the platforms and partners we work with, such as sales platforms (for example, TikTok Shop), advertising and analytics partners, and address verification services. We may combine this information with information we collect directly.

Third-party websites. Our website links to third-party websites. Information you provide on those websites is governed by their privacy policies, not this one.

How We Use Information

We use personal information to:

  • Process, ship, and support your orders, returns, and warranty claims
  • Create and manage your account and product registrations
  • Communicate with you about your orders, account, and customer service requests
  • Send marketing emails and text messages, such as new products, back-in-stock alerts, and sales, when you have signed up for them (you can opt out at any time)
  • Personalize your shopping experience, including product recommendations and search results on our website
  • Show you advertising for our products on other websites, apps, and platforms, and measure how well our ads perform
  • Analyze how visitors use our website and apps, fix problems, and improve our products and Services
  • Provide the features of our lighting apps
  • Run contests, promotions, and surveys
  • Detect and prevent fraud, verify transactions and addresses, and protect the security of our Services
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms

How We Share Information

We do not sell or rent our email or mailing lists. We share personal information only as described below.

  • Service providers. Companies that help us run our business, such as our e-commerce platform (Shopify), payment processors (Shopify Payments), shipping carriers, email and text message platforms (Klaviyo), website search and product recommendation tools (Boost and Rebuy), analytics providers, and customer service tools. They may use your information only to provide services to us.
  • Advertising and analytics partners. Partners such as Google (Google Analytics and Google Ads), Meta (Facebook and Instagram), TikTok, Microsoft (Clarity), and OpenAI (ChatGPT ads) collect information through cookies, pixels, and similar technologies on our website to help us show relevant ads and measure performance. Some U.S. state laws treat this as a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information, or as "targeted advertising." You can opt out as described under "Your Privacy Choices for Advertising."
  • Sales platforms. If you buy our products through a third-party marketplace such as TikTok Shop, that platform shares order information with us and handles your information under its own privacy policy.
  • Affiliates. Companies under common control with Rockville, consistent with this policy.
  • Contests and promotions. Sponsors and prize providers, if you enter a contest or promotion.
  • Legal and safety. When required by law or legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Rockville, our customers, or others.
  • Business transfers. In connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of all or part of our business.
  • With your consent. When you direct or agree to the sharing.

Text messaging data is excluded. None of the categories of sharing above include text messaging originator opt-in data and consent. This information will not be shared with any third parties or affiliates, except service providers that deliver text messages on our behalf.

If you post content in public areas of our Services, such as product reviews or forums, it will be publicly visible.

SMS / Text Messaging

If you opt in to receive text messages from Rockville, we collect your mobile phone number and a record of your consent, including the date, time, and method of opt-in. We use your mobile number to send the messages you signed up for. These may include order and shipping updates, customer service messages, and recurring automated marketing messages about new products, back-in-stock alerts, sales, and promotions.

Mobile information and SMS opt-in data and consent will not be shared with or sold to third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. We share your mobile number only with service providers, such as our text messaging platform, that deliver messages on our behalf. These providers may not use it for any other purpose.

Consent to receive marketing text messages is not a condition of any purchase. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out at any time; you will receive one confirmation message and no further marketing texts. Reply HELP for help, or contact us at support@rockvilleaudio.com or 1-646-758-0144. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Cookies, Pixels, and Similar Technologies

Cookies are small data files stored by your browser. Pixels (also called tags) are small pieces of code on our web pages and in our emails. We and our partners use these technologies to:

  • Keep items in your shopping cart and remember your preferences
  • Recognize you when you return
  • Understand how visitors use our website, including through session recordings and heatmaps
  • Personalize product recommendations and search results
  • Show you ads for our products on other websites and platforms, and measure ad performance
  • Track whether our emails are opened and which links are clicked

The partners whose tools are on our website include Google (Google Analytics and Google Ads), Meta, TikTok, Microsoft Clarity, OpenAI (ChatGPT ads), Klaviyo, Rebuy, and Boost. Their use of information is also governed by their own privacy policies.

Your Privacy Choices for Advertising

  • Opt out of sale, sharing, and targeted advertising. Click the "Your Privacy Choices" link in our website footer to opt out of the use of your information for targeted advertising. We will apply your choice to the browser and device you use.
  • Global Privacy Control. We treat a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal from your browser as a request to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information and targeted advertising for that browser.
  • Do Not Track. Apart from honoring GPC, our website does not currently respond to "Do Not Track" browser signals.
  • Browser and platform settings. You can set your browser to block or delete cookies, though some website features may not work. You can also manage ad preferences directly with Google (adssettings.google.com), Meta, and other platforms, and opt out of Google Analytics with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Children

Our Services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16. If we learn we have collected information from a child under 13, we will delete it. Parents or guardians who believe their child has provided us information should contact privacy@rockvilleaudio.com.

Data Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal information. These include TLS encryption for data sent to and from our website, access limits so only authorized personnel can view personal information, and firewalls and anti-malware tools. Payment card data is handled by our payment processors and is not stored on our systems.

No method of transmitting or storing data is 100% secure. Please be careful when sharing personal information online or posting in public areas.

  • Website analytics and advertising data: according to the retention settings of our analytics and advertising tools, generally no longer than 26 months

We may keep information longer when required by law, to resolve disputes, or to enforce our agreements. Your information is stored and processed in the United States.
