Surprisingly beastly
"I took a chance on one of these because I needed a sub for my PA quickly but didn’t have the budget for something like an EV. I do not regret my purchase. Delivered to Los Angeles next business day. This thing packs a punch and then some. Using it at large bars/restaurants, as well as a shopping mall, with 12” EV mains, for a full rock band. Using the “aux fed sub” setup, plugging into either the right or left input of the sub. Plenty of highs of kick and bass hit the audience directly so I use the sub to fill out the lows of kick and bass only. Works an absolute treat. Perfectly balanced, pleasant sounding mix. Got compliments from bar staff, audience and band members first time using it. Funny thing is that without using a sub, bar manager always kept telling us we were too loud. With the sub he never once complained so far, which must be because the overall sound is now balanced rather than mid/top heavy. This sub has plenty of power. I have the crossover set to about 100Hz and volume at 2 o’clock. A ton of headroom left still on the board as well. Never seeing the Limit LED flash. The only complaint I would have is that the volume and crossover knobs are tiny and it’s impossible to see what they are set to unless you shine a flashlight on them and get your face really close. Then still the crossover is a bit of a guessing game. Basic rotary knobs like you’d find on a mixer/console (maybe stepped at 80, 100 and 120Hz for the crossover) would have made life quite a bit easier. Other than the two knobs, this thing feels totally high-end and like it will last. Compared it to my friend’s Peavey PVXp and they sounded and felt very similar. Similar size and weight as well. At half the price of the Peavey, I would definitely buy this Rockville again (the Peavey does have those knobs I wish the Rockville had)."
Big sound, inexpensive cost!
"I haven't really tested it in a stage show setting, but I did test it in my studio. This thing is pretty loud. If you have any fine china displayed in your fancy china cabinet, be sure to individually wrap them up in plenty of bubble wrap, because otherwise they might rattle off the shelf and break. You've been warned! 😀 Besides it's loudness, it sounds great. There's a various frequency knob to allow you to get the right mix. I've owned plenty of subwoofers, so this, to me, is very essential and useful to have as a feature. The box that it came in was very well packaged. It comes with casters that are tough enough to handle weight. This subwoofer is very well built and very much worth the very inexpensive cost. Compared to other brands, you can't beat this price for the wattage you're getting. Pound for pound, this sub packs a punch and has exceeded my expectations. Don't be fooled by other brands taunting peak watts. The real wattage to look for is RMS or continuous watts, and 600 RMS watts is plenty loud!"
