Description of SLR8DVC:

Break Your Subwoofer In

Much like the engine of a new automobile, a new subwoofer must go through a short but important process of 'break-in' before it is run under harsh conditions. The 'break-in' process will ensure the subwoofer is able to perform as it has been designed to. This process involves subjecting the subwoofer to no more than low-to-medium volume levels for a number of hours in the enclosure. 3-4 hours is generally sufficient for the subwoofer’s suspension to loosen enough to prevent the voice coil(s) from overheating and causing failure. The break-in period is also effective in extending subwoofer life. Over-driving the woofer before it has been properly broken-in will usually result in premature failure and poor performance.

Cone: Polypropylene

Commonly called just PP, this plastic has various forms. It is a resilient and durable manufactured material that can be used in thousands of applications across virtually all fields. It can be used for tubes, car trims, and bags. In the specific case of our cones, this material allows for maximum give that produces great sounding speakers lasting you a long, long time.

Surround: Butyl Rubber

Butyl Rubber is a synthetic (man-made) rubber and is valued for its chemical inertness, impermeability to air and the ability to endure or resist exposure to the many types of weather fronts. Butyl rubber has many different applications. Anywhere from Sports equipment to automotive parts, the medical industry and more. We use them for the Surrounds that connect the cone to the basket. Did you know that most modern chewing gum uses food-grade butyl rubber as the central gum base, which contributes not only the gum's elasticity but an obstinate, sticky quality? Just like that chewing gum, the Butyl Rubber Surround in our speakers can take the equivalent amount of abuse without quitting on you.

Basket: Stamped

Here are a couple of advantages of die-casting over stamping speaker frames. One of the more noticeable differences is the fact that a die-cast frame has better Resonant Frequencies. This means that the frame is able to absorb and transfer much of the energy produced by the speaker. It doesn’t vibrate like a bell would when it is stricken. Another advantage is that a die-cast frame is more durable and harder to damage or break. Other advantages are high dimensional stability for complex shapes, good corrosion resistance, good mechanical property, high thermal and electrical conductivity and retains strength at high temperatures.

This accessory package includes everything you need to install one subwoofer into an enclosure, and wire to connect the enclosure to your amplifier.  This package is a top of the line accessory package which we put together and tested. 

The drywall wood screws were hand selected by our installation experts because they drill into the enclosure very cleanly, without chipping the enclosure.  The speaker wire is 14 gauge.  This is way better than using 16 gauge.  You can be 100 % sure that your enclosure will have a clean signal to the amplifier with this top of the line speaker wire.  These spade terminals have also been hand selected by our installation experts to make the internal wiring simple, secure, and to run the audio signal cleanly.
